• Executive Director, Brand Messaging – MAC Cosmetics
  • Contributing writer – The Times (of London), AnOther Magazine, BEAT Magazine

I’ve worked as a journalist and editor for many publications, including seven years as Editor of the globally renowned fashion and culture magazine Dazed & Confused. I have also developed creative projects for leading luxury and lifestyle brands, and have a powerful vision for how high-quality, carefully curated content can effectively articulate a brand’s point of view while increasing engagement and loyalty.

MAC (2012-present)

At MAC, responsibilities include creating the brand voice and copy globally for campaigns, social media, collections, products, events, and collaborations from Miley Cyrus to Rihanna. I also developed its digital magazine channel Culture, which articulates the brand’s point of view on popular culture, fashion and music, and features original interviews with the likes of Jeremy Scott, Garbage singer Shirley Manson and Michele Lamy. In just 10 months, it achieved over a million hits, while increasing average spend and doubling engagement time.

DAZED (2005-2012)

I became editor of iconic London-based ‘style bible’ Dazed & Confused in 2005. There, I collaborated with the likes of Daft Punk, Bjork, Bat for Lashes, the White Stripes, Jake & Dinos Chapman and Vivienne Westwood for cover features and special issues, as well as interviewing many other characters both well-known and obscure from the worlds of music, film, art and activism.

I was part of the team that developed and launched the magazine’s successful online counterpart Dazed Digital in 2006 and edited the publication through many milestones, including its largest and most commercially successful issue (2008), its pivotal 20th anniversary issue, including an undercover report from Burma on Aung San Suu Kyi, and the magazine’s 200th issue, with guest-editor Bjork.

The Times (of London), Another Magazine, BEAT

I currently contribute features to The Times (of London), including exclusive cover interviews with Hollywood stars Jesse Eisenberg and Michael Sheen. I also write for fashion biannual Another Magazine, and London-based independent music publication BEAT.

Books and Films

The short documentary Joburg Party, co-directed with South African photographer and filmmaker Chris Saunders, was in official selection at film festivals New Filmmakers Los Angeles and Laughlin International, as well as included in the Dazed Visionaries series and highlighted as a prestigious Vimeo Staff Pick.

As well as remaining involved in London’s underground music scene throughout the 2000s, I’ve also edited several books, including D&AD 50, a 300-page celebration of the best of the last 50 years in design and advertising, published by art powerhouse Taschen.
